How to navigate: Clicking on the thumbnails or links will take you to the image viewer unless otherwise specified. The image viewer will show you the examples on top of this page. If the example has multiple images you will see the text "Image 1 of #" under the description. Click on the right hand side of the image to view the next one, or on the left hand side to view the previous one. You can click back on this page or the X on the bottom right hand corner to exit out of the viewer.
Clicking the "show/hide" text will show or hide each section of the page making it easier to navigate.
Digital Manipulation
My definition of digital manipulation is taking something raw, usually a photograph, and turning it into something completely different with digital tools such as Adobe Photoshop. Here are 4 examples of digital manipulation using my photography as well as stock photography. The textures I use in these digital manipulations are mostly organic including moss, rust, and cracked earth. I use the term texture-mapping to describe how I apply these textures to the original subject or photograph. You may also see this term used in how 3D animators take textures and add them to 3D models in video games or movies. It is not necessarily the same method I use, but it is the same idea.

Untitled
I created this piece from 5 separate stock photos. I removed the background from the original image of the woman and then I texture-mapped several organic pictures to her. I think the hard part was creating the separation between the nose and the rest of her face and creating the separation between her chin and her chest.

Decay of the Mind This is another self-portrait and my first texture-mapping piece. I created this from three different images including the original and two textures. I was not sure where I was going with the piece when I started it but I like where it ended up.

Digital Music
I composed the following examples for my Audio for Visual and Midi classes I completed for my Certificate in Intermedia Arts at Collin County Community College in 2002. My musical experience consists of playing trumpet and euphonium for 6 years while in school and going to state competition in brass ensemble my senior year. I taught my self to play alto saxophone and I play a bamboo saxophone on the side for fun. I am currently teaching myself to play acoustic guitar though I put that on hold to go back to school. I would also like to learn to play piano some day. These two classes made up my favorite part of the program and I look forward to getting into the realm of digital music again soon.

Digital Miscellaneous
This section is for pieces that do not fit anywhere else. I created these for class projects and for systems or sites that no longer exist. I am displaying them here because I feel they show some skill or artistic merit.

Die Love Parade
This is a part of a live presentation I did for one of my German classes on Die Love Parade which is a digital music parade held in Germany. This is just the visual part of the presentation and does not include the oral report I gave along with it. Clicking on the thumb or the link will open it in a new window.
Navigation: Each title will take you to a specific section. At the bottom of each section, there is a green button on the left and a blue button on the right. The blue button progresses you through the presentation and the green button takes you back to the main menu.

Tech Notes: I recreated the logo in Adobe Illustrator so that I could manipulate it for the presentation. I created the presentation in Macromedia Flash and then converted it to a QuickTime movie for easy viewing. It requires QuickTime to play. You can download QuickTime from Apple. |

Anime Reactor This is the header artwork for the now defunct Anime Reactor Convention. Anime Reactor was an Anime based convention held in Chicago during 2003 and 2004. I created the header using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

Tech Notes: The convention logo contained only the words 'Anime Reactor' and the reactor symbol to the right. I added the coloring, gradients, individual reactor symbols, and the words ‘Art Show’ for the site.

TimeClock
My boss asked me to come up with a logo for a database system he was working on and gave me 20 minutes to do complete it. I took his concept and created this image in Adobe Illustrator. I kept this image though the system never launched.

Pirates vs. Ninjas
I created this simple Adobe Illustrator image for a brochure in Technical Writing. The image goes along with the 2006 A-Kon theme of Pirates vs. Ninjas.
